View users connected to the remote machines

Jump Desktop lets you add computers to a team so that all members can access and share the computers. This feature raises a problem, i.e., multiple users trying to access the same machine.

Jump Desktop (Mac), now shows you if a remote computer has users connected to it. It also shows the emails of the connected users so that you can identify the users currently accessing it.

This feature is available for Teams Enterprise customers.

We have added helpful, but unobtrusive, indicators in the UI.

Jump Desktop macOS

"Occupied" computers have a distinctive red icon in the icon mode, hovering over the icon shows the connected users' emails.

The list view has a column for "Connected Users".

You can also take advantage of the "Occupied" and "Unoccupied" filters from the filter bar.

Dashboard

"Current Active Connections" card shows the list of computers to which users are currently connected. A subtle badge, with a red background, displays the number of connected users.

In the list of team computers, you can identify the computers to which users are currently connected from the red badge.

Visit the active computer's page to view the currently connected users details like their IP addresses.

Enforce Sign in duration for Teams

You can now configure how long team members can remain signed into Jump Desktop apps. Once the sign in duration elapses, team members will be automatically logged out from their Jump Desktop apps and will have to sign back in to initiate new connections. Automatic log out won't disconnect team members from existing remote desktop sessions but any new sessions will require signing back into their Jump Desktop account.

To enforce sign in duration for your team visit your Team's dashboard and click Security -> in the Sign in Duration section click Set Duration.

This feature is available for Teams Enterprise.

Lockdown Settings

Lock down settings let you enforce settings for the Jump Desktop Connect app from your team's web dashboard. Once settings are assigned to a machine, it can not be changed from the Jump Desktop Connect app running on the host machines.

You can apply settings to individual machines on your team or to entire access groups.

Requirements

  • Currently only available for Teams Enterprise billing plan.

How to get started with Lockdown settings.

  1. Visit https://app.jumpdesktop.com and sign into your team's dashboard.
  2. Click the Connect Settings icon.
  3. Click New Configuration and give it a name and then click Save.
  4. Next assign it to the machines you want the settings to be enforced on (you can change the settings or the assignment later).

You'll notice that the Configuration window lists quite a few configuration options that are not available inside the Jump Desktop Connect app - such as the ability to turn off screen sharing, adding remote access users, configuring fluid ports. Here's a screenshot of what you can configure:

Once settings are applied to machines, the Jump Desktop Connect app on the machines will display a message in the Settings window: Settings are managed by your team's administrator.

Remember Window Positions

Jump Desktop for Mac will now remember your connection's last window position and will automatically restore it the next time you connect.

The feature is enabled by default, however you can turn if off in: Jump Desktop -> Preferences -> Restore window positions.

Dynamic Frame Rate Control For Fluid

You can now adjust how quickly Fluid will send display updates remote computer. By default Fluid tries to target 60 frames per second (fps) for a smooth experience. You can now dynamically change this while connected. This is quite useful when you want to save CPU or bandwidth. Switching to 30fps roughly cuts the bandwidth and cpu requirements in half.

To change the frame rate for Fluid connections connect to a computer and click Remote -> Framerate and select a frame rate. Jump will automatically adjust the frame rate dynamically.

Mouse Cursor Locking For Games and 3D Apps

You can now lock the mouse cursor while connected to a remote machine. This makes it possible to play 3D first person shooters and certain 3D graphics apps that rely on mouse delta movements.

To enable mouse pointer locking, connect to the remote computer using Fluid and then click Remote -> Lock Mouse Cursor

To unlock the cursor press and hold the ESC key on your keyboard.

Cloudless Fluid Connections

Jump Desktop Connect and Jump Desktop for Mac now support completely cloudless Fluid connections. This means that you can now use Fluid without any cloud dependencies. This is useful for environments that require super-high security or otherwise don't have access to the internet.

Limitations of Cloudless Fluid Connections

  • Important Security note: Team Access Control restrictions do not apply to manual connections. You are responsible for all firewall and security surrounding the connection. The connection to the machine will be allowed access as long as they can connect to the machine's IP address and they know a local user name and password. The connection will be encrypted end-to-end.
  • Only available on Teams Enterprise plans.

How to Enable Cloudless Fluid On The Remote Computer

There are two ways to enable Cloudless Fluid Connections - you can use either way:

1. In your Team's dashboard use the Lock down settings feature. Specifically you'll need to turn on the Manual Fluid Connections option:

2. Alternative way if the computer does not have any access to the cloud: Open up Jump Desktop Connect on the remote computer and then click the Settings icon -> Advanced -> CHECK Fluid -> CHECK Manual Fluid Connections.

How to Connect to Computers With Cloudless Fluid Enabled

You can connect to cloudless fluid using Jump Desktop for Mac by creating a new Manual connection:

  1. Open up Jump Desktop for Mac or Windows
  2. Make sure you are signed in your Teams Enterprise account. This will unlock the Cloudless Fluid feature.
  3. Click File -> Add New.
  4. You should now see a new Fluid option in the Type area. Click Fluid and enter the machine's IP address to connect.

New Multi-Monitor Experience for Fluid

We've completely re-written how multi-monitor works when connecting via Fluid. This is game changing for users with multiple monitors. No seriously...

Jump Desktop now supports opening up your remote displays in separate windows simultaneously. This makes it possible for you to arrange the remote computer's displays anyway you want. For example - if you have 3 monitors on your local machine and 2 on the remote machine, you can now use 2 monitors to view the remote machine and the other monitor for your emails, Slack, Zoom etc.

Together with the new restore windows feature and Fluid's automatic display resolution matching this makes an amazing multi-monitor experience.

To start using the new multi-monitor experience for fluid:

  1. Open up Jump Desktop for Mac.
  2. Connect to your machine and then click View -> Displays In Separate Windows.

You'll then see windows for each remote display. Arrange the windows however you like - go full-screen move it side by side, or even close a window if you don't want to see that monitor - it's up to you. The next time you connect to the same machine Jump will remember your windows positions and arrange it automatically.
